Major Recruitment are currently seeking a H&S manager for our prestigious manufacturing client based in the heart of Huddersfield.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all employees across two manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance Management:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of Health and Safety across the company's operations. Ensure compliance with relevant local, national, and international regulations, including HSE (Health and Safety Executive) guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Risk Management & Hazard Control:
- Regularly conduct and review risk assessments, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) assessments, and implement safe systems of work. Identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to reduce risks.
- Health and Safety Audits & Inspections:
- Carry out monthly safety audits and inspections across both manufacturing sites.
- Accident Investigation & Reporting:
- Investigate all workplace accidents and near-misses, using root cause analysis to determine causes and prevent recurrence. Provide accurate and comprehensive RIDDOR
- Training & Development:
- Develop, implement, and deliver in-house health and safety training programs.
- Safety Meetings & Reporting:
- Represent the company in internal and external health and safety meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
- Health & Safety Management Systems:
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the company’s Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS)
Skills & Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. A CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or MIOSH (Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) qualification is a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar Health and Safety role within a manufacturing environment, including practical experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Strong Technical Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices, including OSHA guidelines, COSHH, RIDDOR, and ISO 9001 and 14001
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to engage employees at all levels, lead safety meetings, and deliver training in a clear and effective manner.
Excellent Salary and benefits package
Working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm (with some flexibility)
